COVID Update 10-3-2021(2) – Letters from Mr. Thielman

October 4, 2021

Dear Alsea Parents and Community,

Well I spoke too soon. I just received confirmation that one of our elective teachers tested positive late today.  Since this particular member works with students in K-12 I have decided to close the Alsea Charter School for one day, Monday, October 4th, so I can perform effective contact tracing in partnership with Benton County Health.  I am unable to confidently do so tonight, and I am truly sorry.
I realize that this is much less than Ideal, bur I want to be abundantly cautious.  With the high number of cases in our surrounding communities I feel that this action is best for all our students and families. Getting a bearing on case source is critical for good decision making moving forward.
This closure is for our Alsea K-12 brick and mortar facility only.  Learn at home and our farm programs will have school as normal.  I want to apologize again for the inconvenience this one day closure will cause.  A call em all phone notification will follow this message.
I will send out more information tomorrow once contact tracing is concluded.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Marc Thielman
