Your Alsea Wolverines finished the season nearly perfect at 4-1 and will ride a 3-game winning streak into the 1st round of the 1A 6-Man Special District Playoffs. Riddle enters with a 4-2 record with losses to Powers and North Douglas and wins vs. Yoncalla (forefit), Elkton, Prospect Charter/Butte Falls and North Lake. It has been decades since Alsea took part in the 6-Man Playoff format. After dusting off the record books Alsea, under Head Coach Lyle Carter, took 2nd place in state after losing to Buck Monroe’s Culver squad 33-26 back in 1956. Alsea repeated as District runners up in 1957, before taking 1st in State in 1958 against those same Lyle Carter led Culver Bulldogs with a 38-20 score. Alsea took state again in 1972, but up one classification to ‘B’.
Alsea will look to make another run at the record books this Saturday at 1:00pm against Riddle. We hope to see you all in the grand stands in your blue and white as our boys take the field this Saturday!!
This is a District Playoff game therefore there will be an admissions gate and vehicles will not be allowed down at the football field unless the vehicle has a Handicap Permit.
Please be aware of the admission costs as well:
