COVID Update 1/23/2022 – Letters from Mr. Thielman

January 23, 2022

Dear Parents and Community,

I want to thank everyone who has reached out to provide their feedback regarding the Board Resolution and Masking.

The feedback is important for shaping our policies and making adjustments as necessary to meet the needs of all or students and families.

As you all know, Omicron is reaching its peak in our school/communities, and currently it has created the perfect storm between staff positive cases, quarantine needs due to some one in the household being positive, as well as many Preschool and Daycare closures necessitating too many staff absences for us to safely operate school tomorrow.

Based on our data, we will not have enough staff to safely operate until this Wednesday, January 26th,2022.

Notice: Do to staff shortages the Alsea K-12 Charter School will be closed Monday 1/24 and Tuesday 1/25 this week for in person learning. This closure will include extracurricular activities.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our families. The good news is we should see a steep reduction in cases soon if trends continue. Go Wolverines!!!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns by emailing me separately at

Alsea Superintendent
