Responsive to Intervention (RTI)

Alsea’s RTI program focuses on early intervention for students who struggle early in their academic careers. This program provides individual and small group tutoring in reading and math to help students achieve grade level standards. Research has shown that intervening early helps prevent student struggles in the later years. Students are pulled from their general education classroom for reading and/or math depending on their learning needs for specialized instruction.

We use Northwest Evaluation Association’s Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment three times per year to perform formative assessments all K-6 students. The DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment is used to help us discover those students who are struggling before they get too far behind.
